When looking for that quintessentially British stay, few hotels come close to the history and character of The Dorchester. Known for its legendary status, the London hotel is experiencing a renaissance in the form of a multi-million pound renovation. Join us to step inside The Dorchester’s new signature suite: the Prestige Dorchester Suite.
This remarkable new era started with a star-studded mega party during London Fashion Week, held within the new ground floor. Think Lily James and Joan Collins sipping Vesper Martinis amongst London’s fashion elite. The milestone renovation started in January 2022, with the ground floor being unveiled a year later. This included The Promenade, Vesper Bar and Artists’ Bar. A couple of months later The Dorchester’s pretty boutique, the aptly named Cake & Flowers, opened as a new local favourite selling beautiful blooms by the in-house designer florist Philip Hammond and sweet treats by pastry chef Michael Kwan.
Just in time for summer, the first of the shiny new rooms and suites have been unveiled, continuing to peel back the new redefining DNA of The Dorchester. At the helm of the new re-design is Pierre-Yves Rochon – the name behind The Savoy, Shangri-La Paris and Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. Pierre-Yves Rochon was entrusted by Dorchester Collection with the task of reimagining the hotel’s interiors, seamlessly blending the glamour of the 1930s with a modern edge. The result? A captivating fusion that honours tradition while embracing the spirit of a new era.
The interiors playfully reflect the hotel’s charming eccentricities, incorporating a fresh palette of colours that enhance its rich heritage.
Inspired by its prime location in Mayfair, just steps away from Hyde Park, The Dorchester’s redesigned spaces and signature suite capture the essence of this prestigious neighbourhood. Guests are greeted by light-filled rooms and suites, meticulously designed in varying colourways reminiscent of an English garden. From serene pale greens and enchanting rose pinks to soothing heather blues and vibrant lemon yellows, each room exudes its own unique ambiance.
While we wait for penthouse suites to receive their transformation, the new signature suite gives us plenty to admire. The largest suite on each floor has been made all that more spacious by occupying the room next door. A clever reconfiguration allows the Prestige Dorchester Suite to boast a comfortable residential layout.
The light flooded suite draws you in with a spacious living room. Spanish Alarwool custom woven carpets sit under a six-seater dining area, and generous bar. A study desk is neatly tucked into a bay window overlooking the park. In the stunning bedroom, a hand-painted headboard by de Gournay frames a heavenly sized bed. Whilst a reading nook calls for breakfast in-suite. A strong blue colour palette travels throughout the suite, with a touch of Oliver Messel style peppered throughout. Floral print curtains frame the views and a peplum vanity table daintily awaits your check-in.
